character bashing. This is for criticism..." /><"http://gleefailures.tumblr.com/page/12" />

Anonymous asked: Just wondering what you think about this, cos I can't decide whether it's bad writing or just personal opinion. Blaine slut shaming Sam in Holding on to Sixteen and then appearing to support his stripper past in Makeover with no explanation for the turn-around? I also thought the slut shaming was out of character, talking as a Blaine stan.

I think it was a combination of bad writing and the writers’ own sex-negative attitudes.

For example, in HOTS, it wasn’t only Blaine who slut-shamed Sam (although he’s the only one who did it in a mean way).  Finn, Rachel, and Sam himself all said things to imply that stripping/sex work is something to be ashamed of in the scene in Sam’s dressing room.  The problem is, the writers clearly have some slut-shaming attitudes of their own, which is why these moments are never called out.

The other thing is, I don’t think the writing made it clear eno ugh that Blaine was lashing out at Sam because of his issues with Finn (which is why we have a scene of Finn and Blaine reconciling, but not Blaine and Sam).  So I would guess that Blaine’s rude comment to Sam was less a reflection of how he really feels about sex work, and more him going for a low blow because he was pissed off.  Which is why we later see Blaine having no issue with Sam’s former employment in Makeover, if that was even something indicated in the script rather than Darren’s improvisation or a note from the director.

But that’s just my interpretation.

Glee failure: I noticed the slight debate on whether Finn shooting himself was a writing fail or not and I wanted to add my opinion. I believe it is definitely a writing fail. I’ve been in the military and it is impossible to get into a squadbay with a loaded weapon. His weapon would have been cleared by himself, a buddy, and a Drill Sergeant before he left the shooting range. That scene was so unbelievable to me that I was convinced that it would come out later that he was lying about the whole thing.

Anonymous asked: Getting Jarley to be all romantic and in love then making Marley start questioning her feelings.

Even though I find the story line boring and tedious, it’s not unrealistic or unbelievable.  Though I’m sure it’s frustrating for the shippers.

Anonymous asked: Brittany continuously bullying everybody (Blanie - hairgel, Unique - Mercedes comparison, the prom commity - they are all idiots), and just like Santana or Becky, never being called out on it.

I wouldn’t say she is continuously bullying people; she’s more just a jerk sometimes, which all the characters can be (some more than others).  She is a bit of a Karma Houdini, though.

DO THEY EVEN KNOW ENGLAND AT ALL

Trying to pass that Adam is from Essex when they CLEARLY HAVEN’T BEEN THERE.

As someone who lives quite nearby, Essex is full of fake tan and false lashes and acrylic nails (yes, the stereotype does exist). It’s full of people like Rylan Clark and Amy Childs but less famous. (Google them if you don’t know who they are)

To try and say Adam, with his accent and style etc, is from Essex is laughable and very annoying. It’s like RIB just picked somewhere in England without using the word ‘London’ to make themselves look cultured. FAIL.

I don’t know; this seems similar to saying that the only people who could possibly hail from New Jersey are like those that appear on Jersey Shore.

EDIT: Apparently, Oliver Kiernan-Jones, who plays Adam is from Essex himself.

#5 Journey Medley- Journey to Regionals

New Directions’ Regionals setlist in season 1 was a perfect celebration of how far they’d come all season.  From the stunning Faithfully (a number that still gives even non-Finchel shippers goosebumps), to the fun Any Way You Want It/Touchin’, Lovin’, Squeezin’ mash up, to the amped-up and joyous reprise of Don’t Stop Believing, which brought the season full circle, New Directions’ true energy and heart was on full display, showing exactly why audiences loved the show.

Featured singers: Finn Hudson and Rachel Berry ft. Noah Puckerman, Santana Lopez, Artie Abrams, and Mercedes Jones
